This is a great opportunity for high school teachers who would like to learn more about sustainability and outdoor education in practice.
Sustainability & Outdoor Educations Course For High School Teachers
This 5-day training course aims to strengthen teachers’ competences in sustainability education and provide them with foundational skills in outdoor learning approaches. The course will be organised in Helsinki, Finland, between 4–9 May 2026, drawing inspiration from Finland’s strong tradition in nature-based and experiential education.

4th May Monday- Arrival
5th May Tuesday- Outdoor Training Course in nature
6th May Wednesday- Outdoor Training Course in nature
7th May Thursday- Learning about Finnish culture, experiencing sustainable practices and visit to Oodi Library
8th May- Visits to cultural sites
9 May-Departure
Throughout the programme, participants will explore the core principles of sustainability, environmental responsibility and climate awareness within a pedagogical framework. The course will combine theoretical input with practical field-based activities, including outdoor workshops, site observations and nature walks
The Erasmus Ka121 & Ka122 funded course requires the participant to cover the costs for the following:
Course Fee: 400euros
Accomodation & breakfast: 347.5 euros in 2 person room for 5 nights
595 euros in 1 person room for 5 nights
Arrival is on the 9th and departure the 14th of May. The fee includes accomodation in a Green key hotel with organic buffet breakfast and use of sauna. Local transport (tram,bus,metro,from-to airport), flight tickets, lunch, dinner and travel insurance are not inluded in the fee and these costs belong to the participant. Payment will be done in two installments first the course fee and then accomodation separately.

The training will focus on the following thematic areas:
• Fundamental principles of sustainability education
• Pedagogical foundations of outdoor learning
• Nature-based active learning methodologies
• Planning and managing safe outdoor learning sessions
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
• Explain the core concepts of sustainability education.
• Describe the pedagogical rationale behind outdoor learning.
• Design a simple outdoor activity plan for their school environment.
• Integrate sustainability into their subject areas.
This training will equip teachers with practical tools and foundational competences to implement sustainability-oriented and outdoor learning practices in their schools, contributing to greener and more participatory educational environments.
Deadline: Registeration is until 6th of April however may end earlier in case the max. number of participants is reached.
